Our Asset Monitoring Platform (AMP) provides real-time insights into the condition of networks, be it gas pipelines, district heating grids or transformers. This enables our clients to monitor their assets more efficiently, resolve faults faster, and plan maintenance more effectively.​

AMP enables clients to bring physical assets online, monitor condition and performance, detect anomalies early, and streamline operations with intuitive dashboards and automated alerts. It supports use cases such as pressure and leak monitoring, asset health tracking, issue creation and assignment, and advanced analytics.

AMP helps customers reduce maintenance costs, extend asset lifetime, lower operational risks, and make data-driven decisions at scale. The platform integrates with third-party devices and internal data systems, and operates securely under ISO27001 standards.

Your position as Lead Back-end Engineer

As our Lead Back-end Developer, you play a central role in shaping the technical foundation of our platform. You work hands-on on complex backend challenges while taking ownership of scalability, performance, and architectural decisions. At the same time, you guide a small team of developers and help them grow,  technically and professionally.to flex your problem-solving muscles, bring your ideas to life, and contribute directly to accelerating the energy transition.

What you’ll do

• Drive the design, implementation, and evolution of AMP’s backend services with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.

• Lead the front-end development of AMP (where you can rely on an UX and front-end development experience in the team)

• Ensure the platform handles growing data volumes from thousands of devices while maintaining low latency, reliability, and high availability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, operations) to translate complex domain requirements into technical solutions and APIs.

• Establish architectural direction for asynchronous processing, streaming data, event handling, and distributed systems.

• Lead code reviews, define coding standards, and champion best practices for testing and deployment.

• Manage and support your team (2 developers), helping prioritize work and remove technical blockers.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues, automate operational tasks, and continuously improve platform stability.

• Stay on the edge of backend technologies and propose modern tools and patterns that help the platform scale smarter.

Who we’re looking for

• Proven work experience as a Backend Developer.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

• Excellent understanding of backend dynamics like scaling challenges, asynchronous processing and parallel services

• Strong understanding of SQL

• Experience with Typescript, Kafka and Redis is highly preferred

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js is preferred.

• Experience with Git, Github (or similar) and AWS (or similar).

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities

• You are based in the Netherlands

• Highly motivated and willing to work with own initiative.
